We began class with our exam. Students seemed to do quite well.

In the spirit of Halloween, we then read a horror short story I wrote entitled, “The Campground,” which is based on real events in my life. Along the way, we learned some words popular around Halloween, words like “creep,” “grotesque,” and “cackle.”

We then had Halloween-themed conversations: Have you ever experienced anything supernatural: ghosts, demons, angels, God, gods? No one in class has ever experienced anything directly and clearly supernatural. What is the most frightened you’ve ever been? We had some interesting conversations about sleep paralysis and overactive imaginations.
