WU:  What is the worst thing that happened this summer?

Review - English is made up of words, phrases, and sentences

All Words can be labeled as a part of speech - review definitions (add adverb?) put examples on board - students do

Put words together - phrases (in the class- prepositional phrase,  

Put noun (subject) + word = sentence

Write 5 sentences using the words on the board.  Identify subject and verb.  Share two on the white boards.

Piano Man prep - in partners, students discuss 7 pictures - What is happening?  In pairs, students write 3 sentences in the present continuous about each picture.  

Whole group - share 1 of the sentences for each picture.
