debt, rival, witness, data, issue, trial, firm, label, tempt, lessen (v), rate, scale, fade, pressure, spare, drag, mere (minimal).

We took a poll of how many of the above words were new for each student: 1-7 (Doug and Luis knew most of the words) 

Then the students took quiz #1 on p. 28/29.
